The 23rd session of SLEMA Energy Management Forum was held on 26th April 2018 with Prof. Rahula Attalage, the immediate past president of SLEMA sharing his experience of visiting the Nuclear Science Centre at Texas A&M University.
Prof. Attalage discussed the basics of nuclear science and about the modern nuclear reactor designs. According to him, small modular reactor
technologies have made small scale nuclear power plants a commercially feasible option. However, it will take 10-15 years for a country to
commission it’s first nuclear power plant after including the nuclear power in national energy strategy.
