Japan-Sri Lanka Technology & Business Seminar 2017 was held on 16th March 2017 at Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo. The seminar was organized by the New Energy and Industrial Development Organization (NEDO) of Japan in association with SLEMA.
NEDO is a governmental organization under the Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry (METI), Government of Japan. Globally NEDO has implemented demonstration projects in the energy and environmental sectors to showcase Japan’s advanced technology and disseminated it in collaboration with foreign governments and relevant organizations. NEDO believes that Japan’s advanced technology will provide effective solutions for the problems that many developing countries are now facing and also create more business opportunities for Japanese companies in emerging markets. SLEMA, as an apex professional organisation in the Sri Lankan energy sector, has agreed to extend its support to NEDO in introducing and implementing new energy efficiency improvement technologies in Sri Lanka. In this context, NEDO conducted this seminar with a view of sharing information on Japanese state-of-the-art technologies and best practices in energy efficiency improvement and environmental conservation.
The seminar comprised presentations on smart city development, high efficiency LED street lighting, a low energy cooling technology using natural refrigerants, waste to energy, smart transportation solutions, intelligent transport systems, energy systems and solutions, energy storage solutions etc. Minebea Mitsumi, MAYEKAWA MFG.CO., LTD, Hitachi Zosen India, JFE Engineering Corporation, NEC Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd, Hitachi India Pvt Ltd, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd, Toshiba India Pvt Ltd and Panasonic India Pvt Ltd presented their technologies.
